Tere Tallin (dear Tallinn in Estonian), this charming city always leaves me speechless with her beauty and enchanting vibrations.

Tallinn is the capital of Estonia, the northernmost of the three Baltic countries. Under the influence of Russia, Finland and Sweden, this city preserves an authentic and special glamour. Know for being the most technologically advanced country in Europe, on the other hand, in the streets of the Old Town, the time seems it stopped at the Middle Age.
If you are great fans of Game of Thrones I am sure you will be willing to move here after a short trip.
The first time I visited Tallinn it was a couple of years ago with a friend. Everything was new to me and absolutely unexpected! Who would have thought I would have found myself eating middle age food in middle age restaurants?! I loved this city so much that I promised to myself I would have gone back and with my boyfriend...which of course loves anything that is historically interesting and wishes he was born in the middle age.
Tallinn è la capitale dell'Estonia, la più settentrionale dei tre paesi baltici. Sotto l'influenza della Russia, Finlandia e Svezia, questa città conserva un fascino autentico e speciale. Conosciuta per essere il paese più tecnologicamente avanzato d'Europa, d'altra parte, per le vie del centro storico, il tempo sembra si sia fermato al Medioevo.
Se siete grandi appassionati di Trono di Spade sono sicura che sarete disposti a trasferirvi qui dopo un breve soggiorno.
La prima volta che ho visitato Tallinn è stato un paio di anni fa con una amica. Tutto era nuovo per me e assolutamente inaspettato! Chi avrebbe mai pensato che mi sarei trovata a mangiare cibo medievale in ristoranti medievali?! Ho amato questa città così tanto che mi sono ripromessa che sarei tornata e con il mio ragazzo ... che naturalmente ama tutto ciò che è storicamente interessante e avrebbe voluto essere nato nel medioevo.

We rented a super duper nice apartment at OldHouse Apartments with sauna and fireplace in the center of the old town. All in wood, typically Estonian, warm and big. Our baby, Gabriel was so happy, he couldn`t stop crawling and climbing around. We were very happy as well and the combo sauna/fireplace accompanied by bottles of champagnes and caviar....well, it was just PERFECT.
Abbiamo affittato un grazioso appartamento presso OldHouse Apartments con sauna e camino nel centro della città vecchia. Tutto in legno, tipicamente estone, caldo ed accogliente. Il nostro bambino, Gabriel era così felice, che non poteva smettere di gattonare e arrampicarsi ovunque. Anche noi eravamo molto felici e devo ammettere che la combinazione sauna/camino accompagnata da bottiglie di champagne e caviale .... beh, è semplicemente PERFETTA.

We stayed for a couple of days and we managed to see a lot since the old city center is not too big. The Christmas market are just so beautiful and we spent two days basically trying all the possible Estonian restaurants, even for small snacks and drinking the typical glue wine Vana Tallinn and wines and beers from the place.
Siamo stati a Tallinn per un paio di giorni e siamo riusciti a vedere molto dato che il centro storico non è troppo grande. I mercatini di Natale sono proprio belli e abbiamo trascorso due giorni fondamentalmente provando tutti i possibili ristoranti estoni, anche per piccoli snack e abbaimo bevuto il tipico glue wine Vana Tallinn e vini e birre del posto.

My best restaurant picks are:
III Draakon, a tiny middle age restaurant where the only light is furnished by candles. Great food, super entertaining service and available prices.
Rataskaevu 16, the best restaurant in town. Typically modern Estonian food. Great choice of wines and amazing meet dishes. The interiors are super trendy and the service fantastic. It`s a Must when you travel to Tallinn, just make sure you book in advance because it`s so popular that is hard to get a table reserved.
Olde Hansa, here you will not even find potatoes on the menu because in the middle age people didn`t use to it them! We tried two "tapas" dishes, one of meat and one of fish and they were both amazing. Special? The cinnamon beer! Super nice! And the interiors are again something worth the price.
I migliori ristoranti per me sono:
III Draakon, un piccolo ristorante medievale, dove l'unica luce è fornita da candele. Ottimo cibo, il servizio e` super divertente e prezzi accessibili.
Rataskaevu 16, il miglior ristorante della città. Cucina estone tipicamente moderna. Grande scelta di vini e sorprendenti piatti di carne. Gli interni sono super trendy e il servizio fantastico. E `un must quando si viaggia a Tallinn, solo assicuratevi di prenotare in anticipo, perché e` così popolare che è difficile anche solo riservare un tavolo.
Olde Hansa, qui non sarà nemmeno possibile trovare le patate nel menu perché nel medioevo non si manguavano! Abbiamo provato due piatti di assaggi, uno di carne e uno di pesce ed erano entrambi incredibili. Speciale? La birra alla cannella! Super buona! E gli interni sono di nuovo qualcosa che vale la pena vedere.

Other than that I have to say that Estonian food is really amazingly tasty (I put on the third place so far, after Italian food of course, and Portuguese...my mother in law in a mastermind in the kitchen and Portuguese food has a great variation as the Italian). Wherever you will decide to eat, you are going to leave pretty much very satisfied!
Devo ammettere che il cibo estone è davvero incredibilmente gustoso (lo metto al terzo posto per ora, dopo il cibo italiano, naturalmente, e quello portoghese ... mia suocera e`una mente culinaria fenomenale e la cucina portoghese ha un grande varieta`di piatti e prodotti come la cucina italiana). Ovunque si decida di mangiare in Estonia, lascerete il ristorante comunque molto soddisfatti!

When it come to visiting the town...we just got lost around. I mean, just walking in the small streets is fantastic. I love the Old Town with his splendid Town Old Square. The Toompea Hill with an impressive view over the city. Oleviste Church and the suggestive orthodox Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.
Quando si tratta di visitare la città ... noi abbiamo optato per perderci. Voglio dire, solo camminando per le stradine medievali è fantastico. Amo il centro storico con la sua splendida Piazza della Città Vecchia. La collina di Toompea ha poi una spettacolare vista sulla città. La Chiesa di Olav e la suggestiva Cattedrale ortodossa Alexander Nevsky sono splendide.

Have a look at the pictures but don`t miss the chance to visit this beautiful city! Next goal: to visit Estonia around in summer. It must be so wild and amazing with all his 1.520 islands! :)
Date un'occhiata alle foto, ma non perdete l'occasione di visitare questa bellissima città! Prossimo obiettivo: visitare l'Estonia in estate. Deve essere così selvaggia e sorprendente con tutte le sue 1.520 isole! :)
